Arkansas Steel Processing

Osceola, Arkansas

Project Type: Industrial

Project Description:  Malouf Construction provided turnkey design-build services for Arkansas Steel Processing’s 80,000 SF steel service center in Osceola, Arkansas.  The facility is on the campus of Big River Steel Mill Site and provides slitting and cut-to-length services.  Malouf services included total facility design, permitting and construction including site development, pile driving, building/crane column concrete foundations, process equipment concrete foundations and pits, building erection, and mechanical and electrical services. Malouf crews self-performed all site development, pile driving, and concrete work. A particularly challenging portion of the project was dealing with the subsurface conditions present at the site. Malouf evaluated numerous options for deep foundation and deep ground improvements to adequately support building/crane foundations and coil storage areas while maintaining settlement tolerances specified by the owner. Additionally, Malouf worked with the owner and design team to utilize construction methods that eliminated the need for a driven cofferdam or dewatering system for installation of the slitter looping pit.
